Description
At first glance you may not notice the magpies hidden in the layers, with flying gum nuts set against a collage of coloured paper. The paper is laid to represent gum tree bark, then a free hand over is drawn without erasing any marks. This is because the process is valued in the construction of the work, each one implementing an element of risk. This piece is a perfect match for Among the Gums #7, which has the magpie as the final free drawn layer. The two work equally as well on their own or as a pair.
